Several members of Students for Interprofessional Education (SIPE) are stepping-up their interprofessional education efforts with presentations and leadership training.

Students to Present Interprofessional poster at AAMC Meeting
A presentation proposal led by Peter Wehr, M4, has been selected for a poster presentation at the 2014 AAMC Medical Education Meeting in Chicago from November 6 - 7, 2014. The presentation title is “Improving Conflict of Interest Education in Medical and Pharmacy Schools: A Collaborative Strategy for a Student-Run Initiative.” Other contributors are Peige Zhou, M3, Nick Andresen, M2, Annie Shelton, PharmD, and Michael Gassmann, PharmD, along with faculty advisors Joel Gordon, Medicine, and Ryan Jacobsen, Pharmacy. Wehr and Andresen are SIPE members. Wehr also is Co-Chair of the Steering Committee for Just Medicine, a student-led campaign of the American Student Medical Association.

UI Nursing Student Attends IHI Leadership Academy
Rebecca Segriff, a fourth-year UI BSN student and SIPE member, was selected to attend the Student Quality Leadership Academy sponsored by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement's Open School , July 17-18, in Cambridge, MA. The Academy enables students, residents, and graduate trainees to build leadership competencies through specific skills related to leading change, communicating effectively, and tackling other leadership challenges they will face in their careers.
